Eine kleine Ruhepause mitten in Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro verbinde ich normalerweise mit großen Einkaufszentren, Anime-Shops und den vielen Menschen rund um den Bahnhof. Umso schöner fand ich einen Ort, der sich komplett anders anfühlt: RACINES FARM TO PARK.
Ich war dort gemeinsam mit meiner Freundin Gizem und kannte das Restaurant vorher selbst nicht.
Schon die Lage macht es besonders. Das Restaurant befindet sich direkt im Minami-Ikebukuro Park und damit an einer großen Grünfläche, auf der man bei schönem Wetter einfach sitzen und eine kleine Pause vom Trubel Tokios machen kann.
Restaurant und Park gehören hier zusammen
Genau diese Verbindung aus Essen und Park hat mir besonders gefallen.
Man kann natürlich im Restaurant sitzen, aber bei gutem Wetter bietet sich auch die große Wiese direkt davor an. Gerade in einer Stadt wie Tokio finde ich solche Orte besonders schön – ein bisschen Grün, Platz und trotzdem ist man weiterhin mitten in Ikebukuro.
Auch die Betreiber beschreiben das Restaurant heute noch als einen Ort, an dem man mit Blick auf den grünen Park vom Morgen bis zum Abend Zeit verbringen kann.
Für mich war es deshalb weniger einfach nur ein Restaurantbesuch und eher eine kleine Pause während eines langen Tages in Tokio.
Unsere Auswahl
Gizem und ich hatten zwei ganz unterschiedliche Gerichte.
Sie entschied sich für einen bunten Nudelsalat mit verschiedenen Gemüsesorten. Schon optisch sah der Salat schön frisch und farbenfroh aus.
Ich selbst hatte mich für ein Gericht mit Karaage entschieden. Dazu gab es Reis, Salat, Ei, Gurke und ein Würstchen.
Es war genau diese Art unkompliziertes Essen, die nach einem langen Tag in Tokio richtig gut tut.
Mein Eindruck
Was mir von RACINES FARM TO PARK besonders in Erinnerung geblieben ist, ist weniger ein einzelnes Gericht als die Kombination aus Atmosphäre und Essen.
Man ist nur wenige Minuten vom geschäftigen Zentrum Ikebukuros entfernt und sitzt plötzlich an einem Park.
Genau solche kleinen Kontraste mag ich an Tokio: riesige Bahnhöfe, Einkaufszentren und volle Straßen – und nur ein paar Minuten später findet man einen Ort, an dem man einfach etwas essen und kurz abschalten kann.

Das Restaurant gibt es weiterhin und es befindet sich nach wie vor direkt im Minami-Ikebukuro Park. Aktuelle Öffnungszeiten und Speisekarten findet ihr auf der offiziellen Website von RACINES FARM TO PARK.
Aktuell bietet RACINES FARM TO PARK unter der Woche morgens ab 8:00 Uhr Frühstück an, an Wochenenden und Feiertagen ab 9:00 Uhr. Danach folgen je nach Wochentag Lunch, Café beziehungsweise Brunch und ab 17:00 Uhr Dinner bis 22:00 Uhr mit letzter Bestellung um 21:00 Uhr. Regulär geschlossen ist nur rund um den Jahreswechsel.

Von der Ikebukuro Station ist das Restaurant ungefähr fünf Minuten zu Fuß entfernt.
Die Speisekarte hat sich seit meinem Besuch natürlich verändert. Deshalb würde ich meinen damaligen Nudelsalat und mein Karaage nicht als Gerichte versprechen, die heute noch genauso angeboten werden.
Mein Fazit
RACINES FARM TO PARK ist für mich ein schöner Tipp für alle, die bei einem Tag in Ikebukuro zwischendurch ein bisschen Ruhe suchen.
Natürlich gibt es in diesem Viertel unzählige Restaurants. Aber die Lage direkt am Park macht diesen Ort besonders.
Wenn ihr vorher durch Sunshine City gelaufen seid, shoppen wart oder einfach genug vom Trubel habt, könnt ihr hier essen und anschließend noch etwas Zeit im Park verbringen.
Für mich ist es genau diese Mischung, die RACINES FARM TO PARK zu einer kleinen grünen Oase mitten in Ikebukuro macht.
RACINES FARM TO PARK: A Little Green Oasis in Ikebukuro
A little break in the middle of Ikebukuro
I usually associate Ikebukuro with large shopping centres, anime stores and the busy streets around the station. That made discovering RACINES FARM TO PARK even nicer because the atmosphere here feels completely different.
I visited the restaurant with my friend Gizem and had actually never heard of it before.
The location itself is what makes it special. The restaurant sits directly inside Minami-Ikebukuro Park, next to a large green lawn where you can sit outside and take a little break from the busy streets of Tokyo when the weather is nice.
Where the restaurant and park come together
This combination of food and green space was what I liked most.
Of course, you can eat inside the restaurant, but when the weather is good, the large lawn directly outside makes the whole experience feel different.
Especially in a huge city such as Tokyo, I really appreciate places where you can find some greenery and space without leaving the neighbourhood.
The restaurant still describes itself today as a place where guests can enjoy views of the green park from morning until evening.
For me, it therefore felt less like simply going to a restaurant and more like taking a small break during a busy day in Tokyo.
What we ordered
Gizem and I chose two completely different meals.
She ordered a colourful pasta salad filled with different vegetables. It looked fresh and colourful even before she started eating.
I chose a meal with karaage, served with rice, salad, an egg, cucumber and a sausage.
It was exactly the kind of uncomplicated meal that feels especially good after spending hours exploring Tokyo.
My impression
What I remember most about RACINES FARM TO PARK is not one particular dish but the combination of atmosphere and food.
You are only a few minutes away from busy central Ikebukuro and suddenly you are sitting beside a park.
Those little contrasts are something I really enjoy about Tokyo: enormous stations, shopping centres and crowded streets – and only a few minutes later you can find a place where you can eat, slow down and simply enjoy the surroundings.
RACINES FARM TO PARK today
The restaurant is still open today and remains located directly inside Minami-Ikebukuro Park.
On weekdays, breakfast currently starts at 8:00 am, while weekends and public holidays start at 9:00 am. Lunch, café or weekend brunch follow during the day, with dinner served from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm and last orders at 9:00 pm. The regular closure is around the New Year period.

It is around a five-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station.
The menu has naturally changed since my visit, so I would not expect exactly the same pasta salad or karaage meal to still be available today.
My conclusion
For me, RACINES FARM TO PARK is a lovely place to remember if you need a little break while exploring Ikebukuro.
There are countless restaurants in this part of Tokyo, but the location directly beside the park is what makes this one stand out.
If you have spent hours walking through Sunshine City, shopping or simply need a break from the crowds, you can stop here for food and spend some time relaxing in the park afterwards.
For me, that combination makes RACINES FARM TO PARK feel like a little green oasis in the middle of Ikebukuro.
